About Me

Hi! I’m Polly Phokeev (she/her). I’m a writer based in Toronto. I was born in Russia and immigrated to Canada with my family as a child. I write for theatre, for the page, for the screen.

I tend to write gay stuff. Loosely slavic stuff. Tender realist pieces set on remote archipelagos, magic-touched relationship dramas, and whimsical satires about incompetent bureaucracies.

I hold a BA in Drama from the University of Toronto, and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia.

I co-run the Toronto Writers’ Centre, a co-working and community space for writers of all mediums.
